Hellish War was formed in the year of 1995 in the city of Campinas (1 hour away from Sao Paulo). The band started as a Power-Trio. They kept this line-up untill 1997, in the meanwhile was released their first demo-tape called "The Sign". The band begun to get known after a review on a Heavy Metal magazine called Rock Brigade nº 129. And they received many letters from the fans all around Brazil.
So the line-up from 1995 changed in the midlle of the year of 1997 and gained four new members Daniel Job(G), Jayr Costa(D), Gabriel Gostautas(B) and Roger Hammer (V), the only one to stay from the original line-up was the band founder Vulcano. For the first time the band felt the sound of two guitarrists making the duets of the fisrt songs of the band and had a frontman for the first time too.
In 1998 Hellish War released their first demo Cd without a label but with the support of Valhalla Magazine.
Then came the year 2000 and with the new millenium came their first record deal with Megahard Records.
Between January and February of 2001 they recorded their first official album called " Defender of Metal " and it was relese in April of the same year.
Right after the release of Defender Of Metal the drummer Jayr Costa left the band and was replace by Daniel Person.
After Defender Of Metal promo Tour they loose their bassist Gabriel G. which was replace by JR.
Now with a brand new bassist they had a huge opportunity in the band carrer.
They did the opening-act for the Britsh metal band Saxon.
The concert was in May of 2002 and the venue was Moinho Sao Roque in Curitiba the capital of Parana-Brazil.
